Internet marketing, what is it? The simple answer would be to say it is marketing on the internet. But that is a little to simple isn't it? Another answer would be to say it is running a business online. Well what kind of business? That is the beauty of internet marketing, it is any business that you can think of.
And the lifestyle, what can beat it? Work from home (or any where for that matter) and be your own boss. Oh, it sounds like paradise, doesn't it? Well it is a wonderful life (oh, that is so cliche isn't it?) But it can also be a very stressful and lonely life as well. Stressful and lonely? Whoa you are bursting my bubble!
Stressful because you are your own boss. You make all the decisions. You take all the risks. That can be very stressful. It can also be very exhilarating and exciting and all those other great adjectives that describe something great.
Well, I also mentioned loneliness as well, did you forget about that? Of course you tried to didn't you? How is internet marketing lonely? Well think about it, you are usually sitting for hours in front of your computer all by yourself. And even if you have a spouse, the majority of the time they have no interest in internet marketing, so you can't even talk to them about what you are doing. So even if you have people around you, when it comes to talking about your business, there is not very many people around that understand the highs and lows you go through.
So what is the solution to this? NETWORKING! And just in case you did not get that, let me repeat myself, NETWORKING! This is the way to alieve some of the stress and loneliness.
So what is networking? Networking according to the dictionary means "the exchange of information or services among individuals, groups, or institutions". That is great! Personally, I think it means much more than that. I think it means making friends that you can rely on to help out when you need it, and that you can help out as well. But most importantly I think it is just about making friends, whether they can ever help you or not. Someone who knows what it is like to live this lifestyle. Someone who can share the highs with you, someone or two that can encourage you in the lows.
Networking sounds great, but how do you go about doing this in the impersonal world of online? Well there are a lot of ways to do this: join some forums, participate in some social networks. But one of the best ways to network is to do it face to face. Meet people, talk to them, get to know them, let them get to know you.
